This is a little region-specific, but it's pretty big news for us veteran 'festers: Brad Paisley and Taylor Swift will be performing at WeFest next August. Paisley and Swift both performed across the country with Jack Ingram and Kelly Pickler, including stops at Grand Forks (~2 hours from Detroit Lakes) and at the Minnesota State Fair (~2.5 hours from Detroit Lakes) this summer, but many of us weren't fortunate enough to make it. Paisley and Swift will join Kenny Chesney, a WeFest favorite, as well as other yet-to-be-named acts the first weekend of August 2007.

My favorite deals site, Dealnews.com, has published a survival guide for the big day tomorrow. I'll be headed to an outlet mall at midnight to start as soon as possible-wish me luck! My favorite hint from this guide: Shop like a snob: if a deal doesn't "wow" you, don't buy it-many deals will be matched or even beaten in the coming weeks.

Since the last post, I've found some more good info regarding Black Friday websites-Check it out!

1) Walmart's "Secret" Site-this one has been advertised quite a bit, but it makes the list.

2)Tiger Direct.com "Pink Friday"-a Black Friday site with a spin-profit sharing with a breast cancer orgainzation.

3)Amazon.com will also have it's own special section for Black Friday when the big day comes.

4)Deal Taker.com-Black Friday has already started here. Check out their forums!

5)Gotta Deal.com-A great deals site with it's own Black Friday updates section.

6)Black Friday Ads-A compilation of all the ads you need to go through to find some sick deals.

7)Black Friday Gear-this site is like the others, only you can buy black friday t-shirts, etc.! maybe a little late this year, but good for next year!

8)Black Friday.info- A very simple Black Friday info site.

9)Black-Friday.net- electronics oriented. nice!

thanks to [pcmagazine.com] for most of those, pc magazine is a great magazine not just for computers but consumer electronics of all types. I'm a subscriber- you should definitely look into this magazine!

Don't forget the original post, Black Friday Super Post!!! Top 12 Black Friday Sites

EDIT::::I found a GREAT Black Friday Deals site...TGI Black Friday-this one is great. If you use only one website, this would be the one!

The Bretson Chronicles is all about getting crap for cheap. This Friday, after we're full of turkey meat, stuffing/dressing/whatever you call it, and pumpkin pie, we'll be out shopping for some crazy reason. Not everyone will want to be up at 5AM, and for the lazy folks I've rounded up a TON of links for you to check out and steal the best deals from home(in your pajamas).

Some personal tips: look for free shipping or a ship-to-store option, as shipping can get expensive. Also, start looking for what you want to buy NOW, so you can get an idea of the deal you're getting on Black Friday. Now check out these links and enjoy not being trampled by old ladies at the mall!

Deal News: this is my favorite deals site throughout the year, they constantly update-new deals all the time! Check them for electronics, clothes, coupon codes, and other goodies.

Hot Deals: they're definitely geared towards the technologically advanced deal finder, but they have lots of good deals for normal consumers.

Woot!: Woot isn't a deal site that is constantly updated (unless they're having a WootOff!), but instead they have one unbelievably deal until the deal either sells out or until midnight central time, when the next deal is posted. Another perk of this website is the $5 shipping no matter what the item-whether it be a screwdriver set or a 52 inch plasma tv! (see also: wine.woot, shirt.woot)

Retail Me Not: Retailmenot.com is a site with promo codes for tons of popular online shopping websites (Victoria's Secret, American Eagle, Amazon.com, Kohl's, many more). They also let you inform the rest of us if you tried to code and it worked/didn't work - this sort of lets you decide if the code is worth trying.

Deals Squared: Like Woot!, only this site offers you two deals daily.

Bargainist: This site has tons of deals and coupon codes, updated frequently.

Deal Hack: Lots of good deals here.

Slick Deals: Not a lot different than the others, it "dims" the listing when it expires.

Deal Hunting: Like RetailMeNot, only not quite as impressively set up.

Fat Wallet: A great deals site, complete with forums to discuss deals. This site is maintained by it's users for a lot of content.

Bargainer: "News for Shoppers, News that Saves"

Absurdly Cool: a website with tons of free items offered from many different websites. Some require a short survey, some require you to snail mail your info to them-but the majority just ask for your email and mailing address.

This list wouldn't be complete without mentioning BlackFriday101, a blog run by my good friend Piero.

Many of these sites have their own Black Friday special sections, so be sure to look for those in order to find the best deals.

Best of luck, I'll be thinking of you while marching through the Outlet Malls and other war zones on Friday!

PS: I just found another one: Black Friday Rebates. Enjoy!

There's a lot of debate over which of the newest generation of gaming consoles is the best...many people prefer the graphics of the Playstation 3 or Xbox 360, while others prefer the interactivity of Nintendo's Wii. After dabbling with all three platforms, I have to go with the Wii for it's all around gaming experience. The graphics aren't as up to date as the PS3 or new Xbox, but considering you will NOT be sitting down when you play this (it's not possible-it would drive you crazy to not be standing up), you REALLY get into this system and it'll be difficult to put it on pause to do the things you're supposed to be doing. Let's start this count down....

10) Price. The Wii is considerably cheaper than it's Sony and Microsoft counterparts, a bare bones console and controller runs $250 or so. The Playstation3 is either $399 or $499 depending on the version, and the Xbox 360 is currently starting at $270, and the price goes up from there.

9) Entertaining. If you're a person who likes to host parties, the Wii is a great way to make sure everyone's having fun. You can play with up to 4 players and its interactivity keeps everyone interested.

8) Customizable. The Wii is extremely customizable, either as a do-it-yourself project or you can send it in to numerous companies who will do the modding for you. Although questionable for legal reasons, you can add a chip to let you play burned DVDs with tons of media on them-I have a friend who fits tons of movies, video clips, and MP3s on his Wii and enjoys this media all the time. You will have to find a special screwdriver to take the console apart, if you chose to go that route.

7) Built in Wi-Fi. Included with every Wii is some great Wi-Fi connectivity. I've read many reviews, and survey says: it hooks up flawlessly with any hot spot. This makes it easy for you to network your gaming system with your computer system, which brings us to #6.

6) YouTube viewing. You can easily watch YouTube videos on your TV with the Wii. The videos come through in no worse shape than YouTube's viewing format, which makes the Wii extremely multi-purpose.

5) Great Workout. Sure, you get a good workout with Dance Dance Revolution, and if you really get into Guitar Hero you can feel the burn, but every game for the Wii is interactive-getting you off the couch. You can't be a lazy gamer with the Wii-it just doesn't work. Don't get me wrong, I own DDR for the regular old Xbox and Guitar Hero 1 and 2 for the PS2, and I've been known to break a sweat in those games, but Wii really gets the job done in this category.
5.1) Included Games. This really could be part of #5, because the games that come with every Wii are some of the best, including Tennis, Bowling, Golf, and Baseball. You get a good workout in playing any of these games, and they're fun. You can even get little attachments for your WiiMote to make it look more like the equipment for the sport you're playing (tennis racket, baseball bat, etc.)

4) Envy. Your friends will be jealous, and they'll want one. Why do you think I love the thing so much?

3) No More Loneliness. Not only will your friends be jealous, but they'll be over at your place constantly...which could be a good or bad thing. I just found out a good friend of mine has had a Wii for a while, and I'm fairly certain she was keeping this from me just so I didn't become a permanent fixture at her apartment.

2) Backwards Compatibility. Like the other next generation platforms, the Wii plays it's previous consoles' (Nintendo GameCube) but you can also go play games from your favorite '90s consoles, the NES and Super Nintendo. This feature alone makes the Wii a great investment in my opinion. You can also plug in the GameCube controller to use for these games (you don't have to use the WiiMote or Nunchuck Controller for all games)

1) Mii Characters. This list has definitely not gone in order of importance or greatness, as this isn't my favorite feature, but it's pretty sweet none-the-less. My friend Ryan has his whole family and wife's family designed as a character for his Wii, and they all look fairly similar to their real life counterparts. I've seen other people make dead-on Mii characters of Weird Al, Charlie Brown, Albert Einstein, and Darth Vader. If you decide to get a Wii, don't overlook this feature.

Hopefully this list helps you decide between a 360/PS3/Wii, if it has we have done our part to sway you. We have (unfortunately) not been paid by Nintendo for this ultra sweet list, so don't think we're being cheeseball salesmen or anything. Please note: we are NOT above taking bribes to talk up your product, so if you need any publicity, let us know :-).

I found a few links that could be a fun way to start your week...check em out!

1) Everyone has a camera phone these days, and I don't think people are taking advantage of the opportunity they have to catch ANYTHING and EVERYTHING on their phones - Lifehacker re-posted an article from a year ago on how to take better pictures from your phone (my fave? don't use the zoom if it can be avoided, just get closer to your subject-digital zoom kills your pixels!)

from [lifehacker.com]

2) I found a link, again from Lifehacker, to a website where you can download and print off .pdf's with all the info you need for a "do it yourself planner". It seems simple enough, and fairly customizable-no unused pages with this guy!

from [D*I*Y* Planner]

3) Being a sucker for hangovers, this product could come in handy- Fix Strips, which are like the Listerine breath strips, only when they dissolve they make your hangover symptoms all better (or so they say, I have yet to try them). Let me know if you have tried them or plan on it!

from [Strip Up.com]

4) A fun blog I refer to sometimes when I need inspiration/something fun to read is Dumb Little Man, which posts tons of useful tips fairly regularly. My recent favorite is a list of 50 creativity boosters for when you get writers block (or just can't be creative for whatever reason).

from [dumblittleman.com]

5) This is a nice tool for demographic studies (which I will use in my advertising courses)- Zipskinny is a website (in beta, so all the kinks aren't worked out) where you enter a zip code and find out tons about the area- % of college grads, high school grads, marital status, occupational data, and other fun tidbits.

from [Zip Skinny]

6) Lastly, Cracked.com brings another post that was a pleasure to read for an o.c.d. English nut like myself- 9 words that don't mean what you think they do. The one that irritates me the most? Irregardless. It's not even a word! It technically means the same thing as regardless, but it makes people sound extremely uneducated. Check out the post for the other 8.
